I had another great trip in Africa hunting with P.H. Wayne Grant. I was hunting with two friends from Kentucky, Chris Fannin and his fiance Amy. We hunted in the Matetsi area of Zimbabwe. As you can see Chris was very happy with his beautiful 58 - 60 lb elephant. He made a text book shot and the elephant went right down. We looked at over 400 elephant. We also saw two others at least this size within the first 15 minutes that we were there. Chris also shot a nice buffalo, a 30" waterbuck, a lioness, and darted a huge rhino before meeting me in South Africa. He had another 14 days of hunting after I left, to get his lion, leopard and a huge 47" sable that Wayne or his assistants had seen before and during our safari. I have to give Chris credit, he passed up 4 sables between 42" - 44" for a shot at this big one. I don't think I could have done it. But as you can see from the results, he did! Wayne's son, Lucas video taped the entire safari and did an excellent job. We came across several lion kills while we were there. It's pretty exciting - you're driving along and you see the vultures overhead. Make sure your gun is loaded and you are walking through chest deep grass trying to locate what the lions are feeding on. The lions grunting off in the distance, the preraration of the ground blind. I was very lucky. The last few days of the safari I shot a large lioness, 2 huge hyenas and a civet.

When I was in Africa last year I met a furniture manufacturer that produces teak furniture made from old railroad ties. Since we work on many trophy rooms that need good quality traditional safari furniture, I wanted to look into it. I found several wood shops when I was traveling. This one specializes in traditional safari style furniture. He had lots of great references, a very solid business and the best quality of any that I had seen. I have worked out an arrangement with him and we will be receiving a large shipping container in the spring. This shipment will include teak dining tables, chairs, coffee tables, a teak bar & matching bar stools, side boards, bookcases with glazed fronts and wine cabinets. This would be the perfect furniture for any trophy room. If you have any interest in any of this furniture please give me a call
.
